General Information

Amish made Spring Valley Wheelbarrows, Goat Carts and Pumpkin Wagons are structurally and functionally sound.  Featuring historically authentic construction including square nuts, mortise and tenon joinery, and steam bent hickory wheels with steel rims and eight staggered spokes. Plus the wheelbarrows have removable sidewalls. These are just like Grandpa used! Amish woodworking and crafts are well made and true replicas of our past.

History of Engineering: Wheelbarrow
Chuko Liang (181-234 A.D.) of China is considered to be the inventor of the wheelbarrow. Liang was a general who used the wheelbarrows to transport supplies and injured soldiers. The Chinese wheelbarrows had two wheels and required two men to propel and steer.
