Western Spurs and Spur Straps

Western spurs are generally made of stainless steel and consist of a shank, a neck and a prick or rowel. A spur fastened to a cowboys boot is to assists in asking the horse to move forward. It should be used as a back up to the natural aids which are the leg the seat and voice. Spur straps come in a verity of shapes and styles. Spur straps can be carved or have silver added for decoration. The spur strap goes over the top of the boot and may or not have a strap that goes under the bottom of the boot.
