Polo Equipment and Tack consists of the Polo Saddle which is similar to jumping saddles. Breastplates, are tack commonly used to keep saddles from slipping back. Standing martingales with neck strap help keep the horses head in the proper position, wide stirrup leathers and stirrup irons to help with rider stability and safety. The horse's legs may be wrapped in polo wraps or other horse boots to protect the horse from injury. The horse bits used are gag bits or pelham's bits. A polo bridle may have a drop nose band in addition to a caveson which supports the standing martingale. Draw reins are also frequently tack pieces in polo riding and competition.
