Miniature horses, one of the fastest growing breeds in America, because of their size they requires special outfitting. Miniature Horses are found all over the world and come in various colors and coat patterns. The designation of miniature horse is determined by the height of the animal, which, depending on the particular registry involved, is usually less than 34-38 inches measured at the withers. Miniature horses are quite hardy. They often live longer than some full-sized horse breeds. Life span of miniature horses is from 25 to 35 years. Equestrian International stocks Mini Horse fly masks, mini coolers and mini blankets. For your older little guy that is getting a pot belly we make a Mini horse belly wrap. Even mini bell boots to protect Mini coronary bands. Equestrian International stocks a complete line of Mini Horse bits to drive or ride astride. The History of Miniature Horses & Ponies The earliest history of Miniature horses was in the 1650 A.D. records at the Palace at Versailles where King Louis XIV maintained a Zoo. The Zoo included tiny horses. In the mid 20th Century, many distinct small horse breeds emerged including the Miniature Shetland Pony, the Miniature Toy Horse and the Midget Pony. These breeds formed this historical foundation for the Miniature Horse breed. In 1978 the American Miniature Horse Association (AMHA) officially established the "Miniature Horse" as a separate horse breed.
